We run a sewing worshop 5 days a week from 8 in the mornings until 5 in the afternoons for women from poor communities. They come to YWAM Bethlehem and learn how to sew and have an income for their homes and children. Mostly women without husbands. We then receive contracts from hotels or schools and people in the community. The ladies then make clothes, curtains, bedding, wedding gowns and upholstry. This helps them with a monthly salary. It is mostly to teach women to have a way of income for themselves. A friend of the base was responsible in starting and running this ministry. Marietjie sacrificed her own “Bridal Parlour” to come and serve God full time with us and it includes discipling the women workers. Update: Sad to say that on 12 December 2014, Marietjie is now with the Lord.
NOTE: Sewing Ministry is not running at the moment and will resume until further notice. Anyone who is interested to carry on with the vision of the Sewing Ministry is welcomed.
